Artificial intelligence lab Anthropic plans to proceed with an initial public offering (IPO) in mid-November 2026, even as several other technology and infrastructure firms have withdrawn or delayed their listing plans. People familiar with the matter stated that the company, which develops the Claude AI assistant, could make its prospectus public as early as late October, though the schedule remains subject to change.
The move comes during a period of volatility for the artificial intelligence sector, marked by rising interest rates and a selloff in shares of AI operators like CoreWeave. While the fall 2026 calendar was originally expected to feature multiple AI-related offerings, Anthropic is currently the only major firm in the sector maintaining its timeline for a public debut.
According to sources familiar with the plan, Anthropic is expected to begin marketing its shares to prospective investors during the week of November 9, 2026. The company is believed to deem itself worthy of a potential $1.5 trillion valuation. In contrast, other firms including data center operator Switch and AI infrastructure provider Nscale have postponed their listings. Nscale’s delay was attributed in part to the need to address comments from staff at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
A person familiar with recent market activity noted that the IPO of Oura saw limited participation from long-term institutional investors, raising questions about the current depth of demand for new listings. Additionally, international startups like South Korea’s Elice and Nvidia-backed Firmus have also recently shelved or paused their offerings. These retreats reflect growing scrutiny over the massive capital requirements for AI data centers and whether future demand will justify the investment. Anthropic has not yet issued a formal comment on its specific marketing dates or valuation targets. The next milestone is the expected public filing of its registration statement, anticipated by late October 2026.
