The Associated Press Top 25 college football poll is expected to undergo a shuffle following seven losses by ranked teams during Week 9. The most notable change involves No. 2 Ohio State, which fell 30-18 to unranked Southern California on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026. This marks the fourth consecutive week in which a team ranked first or second in the nation lost to an unranked opponent.
Ohio State played the game without injured quarterback Julian Sayin, resulting in the Buckeyes' second loss of the season. Meanwhile, No. 1 Miami defeated North Carolina 38-35, and is expected to retain its position for a third straight week at the top of the rankings. In other action, No. 6 Utah is in line for a potential top-five spot following a 49-25 victory over Cincinnati.
The lower portion of the rankings saw extensive movement as six teams ranked between No. 17 and No. 25 lost. No. 17 Florida fell to No. 3 Georgia, while No. 19 SMU, No. 20 Northwestern, No. 22 Arizona, No. 24 Oklahoma State, and No. 25 Wisconsin also suffered defeats. Iowa is projected to return to the Top 25 after a 30-0 shutout of Wisconsin, and New Mexico could receive a ranking following a 7-1 start to the season.
The updated Associated Press Top 25 poll will be released on the afternoon of Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026. Ohio State is scheduled to play Oregon on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026.
