Eleven teenagers were wounded in a shooting during a large gathering at Carolyn Crayton Park in Macon, Georgia, early Sunday morning. The Bibb County Sheriff's Office reported the incident occurred just after midnight on Sunday, September 27, 2026. Two of the victims remained in critical condition following the event, while the others were reported to be in stable condition.
The gathering appeared to be a birthday party involving students from Central High School and Northeast High School. Bibb County Sheriff David Davis stated the group had originally planned to meet at an Airbnb in Jones County but the host made the group leave. While at the park, an argument between the party attendees and another arriving group escalated into gunfire.
The victims include four 18-year-old men, five 17-year-old boys, and two 18-year-old women. A 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man suffered the most severe injuries and were listed in critical condition at a local medical facility. According to authorities, many of the wounded arrived at the hospital via personal vehicles.
Sheriff Davis noted he could not remember the last time 11 people were shot at one time in the jurisdiction. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating with assistance from the FBI. While the FBI is involved due to the number of people involved, Davis stated the incident appears to be local. The Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division has not yet identified suspects or made arrests. Authorities have requested that anyone with information contact the Bibb County Sheriff's Office or Macon Regional Crime Stoppers.
