Fullerton police officers are investigating the death of Anthony Joseph Blas, an 18-year-old California State University, Fullerton student who died shortly after midnight on Sunday, September 13, 2026. Authorities reported that Blas was dropped off unconscious at the emergency room of St. Jude Medical Center and was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
Investigators established that Blas attended an "unaffiliated" fraternity gathering near Associated Road and Milton Avenue earlier that evening. The Fullerton Police Department stated that while alcohol consumption appears to have played a role in the death, an official cause of death has not been determined and may take several weeks to finalize.
Detectives noted that they do not suspect foul play or hazing as contributing factors. Fullerton police Sgt. Ryan O'Neil did not disclose who transported Blas to the hospital or whether that individual has been questioned by law enforcement.

Cal State Fullerton student and soccer player Lauren Turner, 19, died on November 7, 2025, after being struck by a box truck while riding an e-scooter off campus on September 27, 2025.
