One person was killed and eight others were injured in an attack on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2026. Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation confirmed that the Houthi rebel group targeted the facility in the eastern part of the country during the evening hours.
The strike occurred amid renewed conflict between the rebels and the Saudi-backed Yemeni government. Earlier that same day, Saudi officials reported that air defenses intercepted a drone targeting the Shaybah oilfield operated by Saudi Aramco. Debris from that interception killed two people and injured two others.
Medical officials reported that the eight individuals injured at King Fahd International Airport were hospitalized with conditions ranging from mild to critical. Saudi authorities stated they were still working to determine the full extent of the physical damage to the airport infrastructure.
Houthi strikes have recently targeted Abha International Airport and multiple Saudi Aramco facilities. The U.S. State Department noted that hostilities could continue to expand beyond the immediate conflict zones. As of late Wednesday, the departure of U.S. personnel was underway. Future developments depend on the Saudi government's assessment of airport damage and any subsequent military responses.
