Health officials in the Gaza Strip reported that an Israeli strike killed at least two Palestinians on Monday. Medics stated that two people were killed and several others wounded when an Israeli airstrike hit a crowd near the municipal public park in Gaza City, an area densely populated with displaced families.
The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the incident.
A U.S.-backed ceasefire that began in October 2025 halted major fighting in the territory, but the Israeli military has continued to conduct strikes. The military states these actions are aimed at thwarting attacks by Hamas and other Gaza militants.
Hamas officials have accused Israel of violating the ceasefire and undermining efforts to implement a broader plan by U.S. President Donald Trump to end the Gaza conflict. That plan includes Israeli withdrawals and Hamas disarmament.
Since the ceasefire took effect last October, Gazan health officials report that more than 1,300 Palestinians have been killed. During the same period, the Israeli military reports that four Israeli soldiers have died.
No specific dates for the start of Israeli withdrawals or Hamas disarmament have been confirmed, and both sides continue to report casualties.
