My Chemical Romance reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart for the first time in the band's history with the reissue of their 2006 album, "The Black Parade." The album, titled "The Black Parade (20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition)," rose from No. 139 to the top position on the chart dated Nov. 7, 2026. The achievement follows the release of the anniversary edition on Oct. 23, 2026.
The album originally debuted at No. 2 upon its initial release in October 2006. According to Billboard, the 138-position climb is the largest jump to No. 1 since Taylor Swift’s "Fearless (Taylor’s Version)" moved from No. 157 to the top spot in 2021. This also represents the longest duration in the history of the Billboard 200 for an album to reach No. 1, surpassing a record previously held by Toby Keith’s "35 Biggest Hits."
The deluxe reissue earned 78,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. during the tracking week. Pure album sales accounted for 68,000 of those units, including 42,000 vinyl copies, which was reported as their highest weekly vinyl sales to date. The release was available in more than 20 physical formats and variants, including vinyl, CD, and cassette. Additionally, the album reached No. 1 on the U.K. official album chart on Friday, Oct. 30, 2026.
For the music industry, the 138-slot jump demonstrates how anniversary campaigns can displace contemporary artists on the charts, as this release took the top spot over Olivia Rodrigo’s album. The 10.14 million on-demand streams recorded during the period show that while physical sales drove the ranking, digital consumption remained a component of the album's reach.
The band is currently conducting the "Long Live the Black Parade" tour, which began in 2025 and included two sold-out nights at London’s Wembley Stadium. While the band faced legal action involving the Dallas Cowboys cheerleading team during the tour, the success of the reissue coincides with their continued live performances. The current Billboard 200 ranking is effective for the week ending Nov. 7, 2026.
