North Korean leader Kim Jong Un met with Wang Huning, the chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, in Pyongyang on Thursday. According to the state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), Wang led a Chinese delegation that arrived in the capital on Wednesday following an invitation from the North Korean government.
During the meeting, both officials stated their intent to maintain the agreements established during Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to North Korea in June. Those agreements included expanding cooperation across political, economic, and cultural sectors, as well as increasing strategic communication through high-level official exchanges.
In addition to the talks with Kim, the Chinese delegation visited several local sites, including a memorial for Chinese soldiers who died in the Korean War and a Workers' Party training school. They also visited the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, the mausoleum where former leaders Kim Il-sung and Kim Jong-il are interred. This visit follows a recent trend of increased diplomatic interactions between China and North Korea.
