Authorities arrested an Ohio couple on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026, after investigators reported finding nine children living in a home and a nearby shed under conditions that included confinement in cages. Jonathan Parr, 37, and Jacqueline Coleman, 32, were charged with third-degree felony child endangerment following a search of a property in Etna Township. The Licking County Sheriff’s Office stated that the children, ranging in age from 1 to 13, were subjected to physical punishments and deprived of food and water.
The investigation began after a referral from Child Protective Services following a report from a local Licking County school district. Deputies executed a search warrant at approximately 4 p.m. on Tuesday at a residence in the 13000 block of National Road SW. A total of 12 people lived on the property, including the children’s 64-year-old grandmother. According to the sheriff's office, four of the children lived with Parr and Coleman in a shed located near the main trailer.
Court documents allege the abuse occurred on various dates dating back to April 2023. Investigators reported a heavy bug infestation and inadequate sleeping arrangements throughout the home. Capt. Jay Cook of the Licking County Sheriff’s Office stated that children reported being forced to perform "wall squats," sometimes for entire days, and having nails placed between their toes as punishment. During a court appearance, Parr denied the allegations, stating he did not keep anyone in cages and that he loves his children.
The legal proceedings against Parr and Coleman involve nine children born to Coleman, seven of whom were fathered by Parr. If convicted of third-degree felony child endangerment, the parents face potential prison sentences. The investigation was initiated following a report from school officials. The Licking County Sheriff’s Office has indicated that the investigation is ongoing and could result in additional charges.
Currently, Parr and Coleman are being held at the Licking County Justice Center. A judge set their bond at $150,000 each during their initial court appearances. No specific trial date has been reported at this time.
