President Donald Trump earned more than $1.4 billion from cryptocurrency ventures in 2025, according to a 927-page financial disclosure released Tuesday. The document details income from several digital asset companies, including CIC Digital and World Liberty Financial, marking a shift in the president's business portfolio which has historically focused on real estate and licensing.
The disclosure shows that CIC Digital, a Trump Organization affiliate, generated more than $636 million, primarily through a licensing agreement for a cryptocurrency called $TRUMP. World Liberty Financial, a company co-founded by the president and his family during the 2024 campaign, reported nearly $600 million in income. Other assets reported include $77 million from the Mar-a-Lago Club and over $86 million in legal settlements from media and technology companies.
White House spokesperson Anna Kelly stated that the president and his family have not engaged in conflicts of interest and that his policies, including the GENIUS Act, are intended to drive economic opportunity. Conversely, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) said that pending cryptocurrency legislation must prevent senior officials and their families from profiting from the industry, characterizing the current situation as corruption. Trump attributed his earnings to a rising stock market and stated his assets are managed by financial institutions with which he does not communicate.
The scale of these earnings has introduced new friction into the development of federal cryptocurrency policy. Congressional lawmakers are currently negotiating a landmark bill intended to regulate the $2 trillion digital asset market. The reported income has led to demands from Senate Democrats for stricter ethics provisions that would specifically prohibit the President, Vice President, and other senior officials from maintaining these types of business interests while in office.
For the broader public, the next steps involve the progression of this legislation to the Senate floor. The outcome of these negotiations will determine whether new legal boundaries are set for federal officials participating in the crypto market. While the Trump Organization described the filing as a demonstration of "unmatched" transparency, the specific dates for votes on the proposed ethics restrictions or the broader regulatory framework have not been reported.
