Toronto police are searching for three suspects who wounded a real estate CEO and his two daughters during a home invasion in the Bridle Path neighborhood on Thursday. Masked men entered the residence at approximately 3:40 a.m. local time, armed with firearms and a hammer. According to authorities, David Morton, the CEO of the MAC Group, and his family attempted to fight off the intruders before shots were fired.
The suspects forced entry through a back entrance and confronted 75-year-old David Morton, his 64-year-old wife Doriana, and their two adult daughters, Maggie, 28, and Cristina, 26, on the second floor. Toronto Police Service Inspector Kristy Smith stated that the men demanded valuables, though it remains unclear if anything was stolen. In a statement released Friday, David Morton said all four family members were also attacked with a hammer during the encounter.
Mr. Morton and both daughters sustained gunshot wounds and remained hospitalized as of Friday. Their specific medical conditions were not disclosed. Police described the three suspects as men in their 20s wearing dark clothing who fled the scene in an SUV. This incident occurred in the same neighborhood where break-in attempts were reported at a residence belonging to rapper Drake in May 2024, resulting in a security guard being wounded by gunfire.
The incident highlights data provided by the Toronto Police Service showing the city has recorded 119 home invasions so far in 2026. This figure represents a 32.2% increase compared to the same period last year.
The investigation into the three suspects remains active as police review security footage and evidence from the scene. No arrests have been made. Further updates on the suspects' identities or the medical status of the Morton family are expected as the Toronto Police Service continues its search.
