Subaru of America announced a recall for 541,000 sport utility vehicles in the United States due to inaccurate weight labels. The recall affects three specific models: the Crosstrek, the Forester, and the Ascent.
The company stated that the labels on these vehicles provide incorrect weight ratings. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), inaccurate weight information can lead to vehicle overloading, which may affect handling and increase the risk of a crash.
Subaru has not reported any injuries or accidents related to the labeling error. Owners of the affected vehicles will be notified by mail and instructed to visit authorized dealerships to have the labels replaced with corrected versions at no cost.
