Authorities in Grenada are searching for 44-year-old Elizabeth Waddell, a North Carolina resident who was reported missing on July 22. According to family spokesperson Amanda Romano-Harmon, the Royal Grenada Police Force obtained surveillance footage showing the woman entering the water at a pier on Grand Anse Beach.
Waddell was nearing the end of a three-week vacation with a friend in the capital city of St. George's. Her family stated she left their rental unit around noon on the day of her disappearance, carrying only a towel and wearing a swimsuit. When she did not return after several hours, her traveling companion located her towel on the beach but found no other personal belongings.
Romano-Harmon stated that the recovered video depicts Waddell swimming and floating in the water before she drifted out of the camera's field of view. The Royal Grenada Police Force has not publicly released the footage. Waddell’s husband, Cailen Waddell, and other family members have arrived on the island to assist in the search efforts.
