Tropical Storm Bertha made its second landfall on Thursday afternoon near the Texas-Louisiana border, according to the National Hurricane Center. The storm's center moved onshore approximately 75 miles northeast of Galveston, Texas, following a track across the Gulf Coast that began earlier in the week.
The National Hurricane Center reported that the storm was expected to weaken rapidly as it moved further inland. Forecasters noted the potential for storm surges along the immediate coastline and isolated flash flooding in affected areas, though no significant damage or fatalities have been reported since the storm formed on Monday.
Bertha marks the second named storm of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season. It previously made a brief first landfall on Wednesday along the Louisiana coast southwest of New Orleans before continuing toward the Texas border.
