The Fairfield Police Department identified the California victim as 31-year-old Constance Hages. Investigators in Fairfield believe the shooting was a targeted incident involving one suspect who fled the scene.
Of the six survivors in the Fairfield shooting, police reported on Saturday that three remained in critical condition: a 16-year-old male, a 19-year-old male, and a 32-year-old male. A 23-year-old male was listed in critical but stable condition, while two others, aged 19 and 43, were treated and released. In the Michigan incident, police reported that the 21-year-old suspect was hospitalized with injuries after being assaulted by the deceased victim's family members following the shooting.
A spokesperson for Spirit Halloween told CBS News that the affected stores in Fairfield and Madison Heights will remain closed for the remainder of the season. The company issued a statement extending condolences to the families affected.
In Fairfield, the police investigation remains active as detectives review witness statements. While the Michigan suspect is in custody at a hospital, the California suspect remains at large. Police have asked anyone with information about the California shooting to contact the department.
