A man was detained by Greek police on Monday following a stabbing incident near the Acropolis in Athens that left two tourists wounded. The victims, identified by authorities as a man and a woman, were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Officials stated that their injuries are not considered life-threatening.
The incident occurred in a high-traffic pedestrian area near the ancient archaeological site. Police reported that the suspect, whose identity and motive have not yet been released, was apprehended at the scene shortly after the attack.
Security forces cordoned off the immediate area to conduct an investigation. No other injuries were reported, and the Acropolis remained open to the public following the incident. Greek authorities have not categorized the event as related to terrorism at this time.
