White House Middle East adviser Brett McGurk will release a book documenting the negotiations for the release of hostages held by Hamas. The memoir, titled \"The Hostage Crisis,\" is scheduled for publication this fall by Penguin Press.
McGurk has served as a lead U.S. negotiator following the October 7, 2023, attacks on Israel. His account is expected to detail the diplomatic efforts involving the United States, Israel, Qatar, and Egypt to secure the release of more than 200 individuals taken into Gaza.
According to the publisher, the book will provide an inside perspective on the high-stakes discussions and the administrative challenges faced during the ongoing conflict. McGurk has held national security positions under the last four U.S. presidential administrations.
