The Protecting Access for Hunters and Anglers Act prohibits the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Bureau of Land Management, and the Forest Service from regulating or banning lead ammunition and tackle on federal lands and waters. Agencies may only implement new lead restrictions if they provide field data proving that lead use is the primary cause of a wildlife population decline in a specific area and receive formal approval from the affected state. Introduced by Representative Robert Wittman (R-VA), the bill passed the House in March 2026 and has been referred to the Senate for further consideration.
