H.R. 773
HouseTo authorize the National Institute of Standards and Technology to provide assistance for the development of international artificial intelligence standards, and for other purposes.
Sponsor: Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI)
The House of Representatives has passed this bill. It now moves to the Senate.
In brief
This bill repeals the authority of the Natural Resources Conservation Service to accept and use nonfederal contributions for public-private partnerships under the SUSTAINS Act. It ends the agency’s ability to match private funds or allow donors to designate money for specific conservation projects involving climate change and carbon sequestration. However, the agency may still accept nonfederal funds to carry out the Environmental Quality Incentives Program and the Conservation Stewardship Program. Introduced by Representative Harriet Hageman (R-WY), the legislation is currently under consideration by a House subcommittee.
