In brief
This bill repeals two major federal grant programs that fund electric vehicle and alternative fuel infrastructure. It ends the Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Grant Program and the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Formula Program, which provide Department of Transportation funding for charging stations and hydrogen, propane, or natural gas fueling sites. The legislation also cancels all unspent funds previously allocated to the Federal Highway Administration for these programs. Introduced by Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA), the bill was referred to the Committee on Environment and Public Works in February 2025.
