The RESULTS Act requires the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to set Medicare payment rates for widely available laboratory tests using private sector claims data from a new independent database. Under the bill, the agency must contract with a non-governmental nonprofit to manage this data, which must represent at least 50 private payors and 100 providers nationwide. These new payment rates take effect on January 1, 2028, and the bill delays existing scheduled payment cuts for tests until that time.
